i have not really been updating on afterlife, this is mainly because i have yet to start on anything, though i have been tasked with an extra animation that i am looking forward to starting. This animation is a silhouette animation where she wants the main character to walk through a forest and then to be chased by a giant spider, the spiders that she is wanting are from a park very close to university in a park called Ward Jacksons, these are metal spiders but they have a unique shape that i should be able to replicate. The example of what she is looking for is a bit over the top and i dont thing i am going to be able to replicate that style exactly, because i dont have the specialized equipment necessary. The example she showed me was a animation by Lotte Reiniger, who did lots of work with silhouette animation, though from what i can research about this artist she used a light box, where i would only have rostrum, but i did show my director a previous short silhouette animation that i had done in college using a rostrum and she seemed to like it so we might be good i have also created a concept of what i want to achieve and she is happy my director is happy with how this looks. I will begin this animation in the next week or so. The next concept is the butterfly animation this has changed a bit from the original pitch as instead of a mirror my director is now wanting the butterfly to come out of a umbrella. This doesnt really change the animation much, but my director has should that she is wary of the fact that the butterfly is going to be made out of paper, and has had me looking at a website called fiver where i could possible but a butterfly animation to rather go along my animation or completely replace it. I guess i will have to just create the animation and see what she thinks. I have already created a concept on photoshop using a photo of a butterfly i found online and the images of the main characters eyes that where sent to me. i just need to find out if i am able to print double sided on card at university. Finally just an update of the green screen work she wants me to do, they filmed a scene the other day where two girls where on face time, she wanted me put the video over the phone so that it looked like they where face timing each other, but unfortunately the shot that i would require to do this was not got, as i would need a shot where the character is looking directly into the camera, i have told the DOP this and the director and am hoping that they get this shot for me.
