Editing My Name is John - Scene 7 & 8

I have been editing My Name is John on and off for a while now and the film has had some major and minor changes over these couple of these weeks, so over these next blogs im going to be showing each scene discussing thing that were wrong with the scenes how i fixed them and what plans i have for the future of the this Film. Unfortunately the Exports dont have sound so i will just be talking about visual cuts and what i plan to do with sound.

Scene 7 -
Scene 7 is a very short scene, and as we only got tow takes of this shot that where practically the same there was not really much choice when it came to the edit, the scene it self is a fine scene and helps to build up the empathy you are meant to be feeling for john by the end of the film. I have since said to my director though that i would have loved to instead of this shot get a shot of the camera operator being wheeled out by paramedics after getting a bowling ball dropped on his foot, though this would have taken a lot of planning and we had a rushed scheduled.

Draft 1

Draft 2 (Nothing has Changed)

Scene 8 -
Scene 8 is another scene with only one scene i dont think the scene works as well as was pitched as originally this scene was meant to be more of a laughing scene where you find out that all along he was only addicted to being a magician, but as this is more told through out the film unlike originally planned, this scene is now more of a emotional scene. The shot itself like the first scene is slightly of balance but i cant do much to fix this as the shot starts of straight and goes of angle when we pan up to john.

Draft 1

Draft 2 (Again Nothing Has Changed)
